COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Lyons Leads SCC to Basketball Victory

Cyndi Lyons’ 14 points led a balanced attack as Southern California College scored a 58-55 victory over Elmhurst in a nonconference women’s basketball game Tuesday at SCC.

Megan Willrett scored 19 points and grabbed 26 rebounds for Elmhurst.

In other nonconference women’s basketball:

Cal State Northridge 58, UC Irvine 57--Alana Collins scored 20 points as Cal State Northridge slipped by host Irvine (1-6). Yvonne Catala led the Anteaters with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Northridge (4-4) led, 31-24, at the half.

In the San Jose State women’s tournament:

Cal State Fullerton 76, San Jose State 75--Allison Jackson scored 27 points and Heidi James and Shefonda Colbert each had 14 points for Cal State Fullerton. Sherry Yudt scored 20 points and hit five three-pointers for San Jose State.
