GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Robledo, Santiago Defeat Corona del Mar

America Robledo scored 18 points, including all six of Santiago’s in overtime, as the Cavaliers beat Corona del Mar, 57-53, in the title game of the Santiago girls’ tournament Wednesday in Garden Grove.

Robledo, a senior guard, scored 74 points and had 28 assists in the three tournament games and was named the most valubale player. Yamila Olmedo had 15 points and 27 rebounds in the title game for Santiago (7-2).

Santiago opened a 20-7 lead after one quarter but Corona del Mar rallied and led, 37-34, going into the final quarter.

In other Santiago tournament games:

Edison 72, Sonora 46--Point guard Leila Ryan had 16 points, eight assists and five steals for Edison (6-4) in the third-place game. Ryan and teammate Janette Oriza were named to the all-tournament team. Christine Nonis had a game-high 19 points for Sonora.

Fullerton 52, Pacifica 48--Nadia Hoerner scored 20 points to lead Fullerton (4-7) in the seventh-place game.

El Modena 37, Canyon 35--Jamie Shine scored 10 points to lead El Modena (2-7) to the consolation championship.

In the Artesia tournament:

Los Alamitos 54, Cerritos Valley Christian 53--Cindy Yamasaki had 23 points and five assists for Los Alamitos (6-6), while teammate Cavetra Mitchell scored 14 points in a semifinal. Julie Bouma had 20 points for Valley Christian (8-2).

Garden Grove 68, St. Joseph’s 45--Junior guard Michol Murray scored 24 points and had six steals for Garden Grove (5-4), which will play Los Angeles Banning for fifth-place at 3 p.m. Saturday at Artesia High School.

In the Gahr tournament:

Mater Dei 51, San Gabriel 35--Leticia Oseguera scored 17 points and had 14 rebounds before fouling out for Mater Dei (9-3) in the consolation championship. Adrienne Botana added 12 points for Mater Dei.

In the Ramona tournament:

Capistrano Valley Christian 52, San Diego West Hills 16--Senior center Ivana Kovacic, who was named to the all-tournament team, had 18 points, 14 rebounds and two blocked shots for Capistrano Valley Christian (7-3).
