Cal State Northridge has played nine of its first 10 basketball games away from Matador Gym. In those nine games, opponents have taken more free throws (258-169) and converted more (172-97). In their 80-73 loss to UCLA at Pauley Pavilion, the Matadors had one more field goal (including three-point field goals) and seven more three-point baskets than the Bruins but were outscored, 19-3, at the line.

Guard Andre Chevalier has moved into second place on Northridge’s all-time list with 288 assists in 67 games. He is 27 behind Troy Dueker, who had 315 in 93 games from 1984-88. Chevalier, a junior, had three steals against Loyola Marymount to give him 107 in his career, second behind Derrick Gathers (120, 1988-90).

Against Loyola, Northridge was uncharacteristically cold from three-point range. The Matadors made only three of 16 attempts. In three previous games, Northridge had made 31 of 67 (46.3%). Ryan Martin, who had made 12 of his previous 20 tries, missed all four of his attempts.
