Glendale : Auditorium to Get Face Lift

City Council members have agreed to move ahead on a $6.2-million plan to expand and remodel the cavernous Civic Auditorium.

The council voted Tuesday to seek bids from contractors, and city officials say construction could begin by late April.

The building, which has a leaky roof and cracked pipes, was built in 1938, said Nello Iacono, director of parks, recreation and community services.

City officials in recent years had debated whether to restore or replace the hall, a popular site for high school dances, trade shows and fairs.
