GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Botana and Oseguera Pace Mater Dei’s Rout of El Toro

Leticia Oseguera had 20 points and 17 rebounds and Adrienne Botana had 22 points as Mater Dei beat El Toro, 79-34, in a South Coast League game Thursday at Mater Dei.

Allison Luckey had nine assists for the Monarchs (14-5, 4-2), the 10th-ranked team in Orange County. The Monarchs outscored El Toro, 28-6, in the first quarter.

In the Empire League:

Los Alamitos 56, Loara 52--Cavetra Mitchell scored 20 points and had nine steals and Cindy Yamasaki had 17 points and seven assists for Los Alamitos (10-9, 4-2). Rebecca Stevens led Loara (0-6 in league) with 18 points before fouling out.

Katella 65, Esperanza 52--Chris Carrillo and Kelsi Armbuster each scored 18 points for Katella (16-3, 5-1).

In the Freeway League:

Troy 58, Sonora 40--Janea Butler scored 11 points for Troy (17-3, 6-0), ranked eighth in the county.

Fullerton 46, La Habra 39--Nadia Hoerner had 18 points and nine rebounds for Fullerton (8-10, 4-2).

Sunny Hills 44, Buena Park 27--Sandy Wilcox had 11 assists and Beth McLean and Darci Raphael each scored 12 points for Sunny Hills (7-11, 3-3).

In the Olympic League:

Capistrano Valley Christian 31, Calvary Chapel 20--Ivana Kovacic had 12 points and 12 rebounds for Capistrano Valley Christian (13-5, 6-1).

In the Orange League:

Brea-Olinda 94, Western 39--Nicole Erickson scored 24 points and had nine rebounds, nine assists and five steals for Brea-Olinda (19-2, 6-0), the top-ranked team in the county.

Valencia 45, Magnolia 31--Nikki Kubota scored 19 points for Valencia (5-12, 3-3).

In the Sea View League:

Woodbridge 46, University 39--Nicole Quinn had 11 points and 11 rebounds and Melanie Pearson had 17 rebounds and 11 steals for Woodbridge (15-5, 8-1).

Corona del Mar 59, Santa Margarita 44--Mollie Flint had 30 points for host Corona del Mar (11-7, 4-5).

Newport Harbor 56, Tustin 29--Kala Ross led visiting Newport Harbor (14-5, 9-0) with 26 points.

In the Sunset League:

Edison 63, Santa Ana 50--Joan Paje scored 35 points for visiting Edison (12-7, 6-3). She had five three-point shots to increase her season total to 50.

Marina 65, Rosary 46--Jessica Trippet had 15 points and 16 rebounds for Marina (15-4, 8-1). Jennifer Chey scored 18 points for Rosary.

Ocean View 56, Fountain Valley 48--Farah Magee had 17 rebounds for Ocean View (11-9, 5-4).

Huntington Beach 65, Westminster 40--Clare Walker had 14 of her 16 game-high points in the first half for visiting Huntington Beach (18-3, 8-1).
