PREP SOCCER ROUNDUP : Harris’ Goal Gives Marina Victory Over No. 2 Santa Ana

Mike Harris scored the game’s only goal, leading unranked Marina to a 1-0 victory over Santa Ana, ranked second in Orange County, in a Sunset League boys’ soccer game Friday at Marina High School.

Harris scored off Adam Bloomfield’s assist with 20 minutes remaining for the Vikings (12-6-2, 5-4-1 in league). Santa Ana is 14-2-2, 6-1-2.

In another Sunset League game:

Servite 4, Westminster 1--Scott Cutshall, David Barcott, Steve Rullo and Greg Hernandez each scored for host Servite (10-6-3, 5-4-1). David Jarrick scored for Westminster (0-9-1).

In the Century League:

El Modena 0, Villa Park 0--Bijel Shaw had five goalie saves for El Modena (7-4-1, 4-1-1).

Orange 1, Foothill 0--Robert Rodriguez scored midway through the second half on an assist from Mike Band for Orange (10-6-5, 2-3-1). Foothill is 10-7-2 and 2-4.

In the Empire League:

El Dorado 0, Katella 0--Drew Wardell had five saves for El Dorado (4-0-2 in league). Trevor Ross had 11 saves for Katella (0-5-1 in league).

Esperanza 1, Cypress 1--With three minutes left in the game, Peter Schumerth tied the score for Esperanza (10-2-5, 4-0-2). Mark Dinardo scored the goal for Cypress (6-4-4, 2-2-2).

In the Freeway League:

Sonora 2, Troy 1--Chris Fernandez scored with eight minutes remaining for host Sonora (12-4-1, 4-1). Paul Copeland also scored for the Raiders. Nick Ruzzi scored for Troy (11-6-2, 3-3).

In the Garden Grove League:

La Quinta 2, Los Amigos 0--Billy Bartz scored two first-half goals and Jack Irving had two assists for host La Quinta (4-8-1, 2-5-1). Brian Laske had 11 saves for Los Amigos (2-7-2, 1-6-1).

Santiago 5, Bolsa Grande 2--Rafael Mosqueda scored five goals, giving him 23 this season, two short of the school’s single-season record, and Ariel Garcia had three assists for host Santiago (10-2-1, 8-0). Bolsa Grande is 1-6-1 in league.

In the Orange League:

Anaheim 1, Savanna 0--Javier Barajas scored less than a minute into the game for visiting Anaheim (18-2-2, 5-0-1).

Brea-Olinda 1, Western 0--Isaac Ugay had the only goal to lead Brea-Olinda (10-2-3, 4-0-2).

Valencia 3, Magnolia 2--Marc Carren scored two second-half goals for Valencia (3-4-4, 3-1-2), which trailed, 2-0, at halftime. Douglas Alvardo scored both goals for Magnolia (3-7-5, 1-3-2).

In the Olympic League:

Orange Lutheran 1, Ontario Christian 0--Chris Campbell scored 10 minutes into the second half for host Orange Lutheran (6-3-2, 3-1-1), which upset Ontario Christian (11-4-1, 4-1-1), the fourth-ranked team in Division V.

In the Pacific Coast League:

Century 2, Trabuco Hills 0--Jose L. Lopez scored two goals within a minute of each other in the waning minutes of the second half for Century (4-8-2, 2-4).

Laguna Hills 1, Laguna Beach 0--Jamie Miller scored a second half goal for host Laguna Hills (8-5-7, 4-0-2). Laguna Hills goalie Mike Messinger had six saves, posting his 10th shutout of the season to break Devon Higgins’ single-season school record of nine. Laguna Beach is 5-8-1, 0-5.

In the South Coast League:

Capistrano Valley 1, Mission Viejo 0--Scott Shone scored a first-half goal to lead Capistrano Valley (14-4-2, 4-1) past Mission Viejo (5-7-3, 1-2-2).

San Clemente 4, Dana Hills 2--Rob Oveson scored two goals for host San Clemente (13-2-2, 5-0). Fernando Castellanos scored two goals for Dana Hills (1-7-5, 0-4-1).
