Injuries Fatal to Pedestrian Hit by Car
A 63-year-old woman jaywalking at the Leisure World retirement community died after she was struck by a car, California Highway Patrol officials said Friday.
Delores Anderson died shortly after the 6:39 p.m. accident Thursday on Avenida Sevilla north of Calle Aragon, according to the CHP.
The driver, an 88-year-old woman heading north on Avenida Sevilla, told investigators that she did not see Anderson crossing the street. The driver was not cited, pending an investigation, said CHP Officer Joe Escobar.
The driver told authorities that she was traveling about 20 m.p.h. and that Anderson was about 40 feet from a crosswalk at the time of the accident.
