The Pioneers’ guard scored 34 points and grabbed 19 rebounds in a pair of Suburban League victories. Venable had a team-high 18 points and 10 rebounds in a 53-38 victory over Norwalk. She also had 16 points and nine rebounds in a 55-40 win over Glenn. The two victories improved Artesia’s record to 11-9 overall and 5-3 in the league.

Avion Harris led the Bellflower High basketball team to a pair of Suburban League wins. Harris had 30 points, six steals, five rebounds and four assists as she led the Buccaneers to a 51-47 win over La Mirada and a 55-40 victory over Glenn.

Becky Pecjak, a Millikan High soccer player, scored four goals in a 7-0 win over Moore League rival Jordan.
