SOUTHERN SECTION SOCCER ROUNDUP : Santa Ana Advances on Late Goal

Share

Top-seeded Santa Ana needed a late goal by Oscar Hernandez to hold off La Verne Damien, 1-0, Friday in a Division I boys’ soccer first-round playoff game at Santa Ana.

Last season, Damien beat Santa Ana, 2-1, in overtime in the semifinals. In that game, Santa Ana played the second half and overtime with 10 players after Antonio Lagunas received a red-card ejection in the first half.

This time Damien played the second half down a man after a Damien player was ejected late in the first half for a dangerous tackle of Lagunas.
