In Sports World Ruled by Dollar, Burke Story Is a Breath of Fresh Air
Regarding Bill Plaschke’s article “Real Life Relief,” I am happy to see someone quietly opening the door and letting the fresh air cool my face. In the sports world--as well as the real world--hot air rises to the top--but not this time. It’s people like Tim Burke who let their hearts--not their mouths and bank accounts--dictate how they live their lives. They continue to give me optimism and hope.
In an increasingly violent and selfish society, talk is cheap and kids are lonely. If we continue to leave our children destitute, how is society supposed to function?
Don’t watch the news. Ask Tim Burke.
Baseball is a game, and Tim Burke has struck out the side on nine pitches. Now I can relax and take a deep breath of that fresh air on my own terms. And it doesn’t get any better than that. Just ask my idol, Tim Burke.
