Sunset League championships:

Edison girls win--Ocean View’s Christie Engesser scored a triple victory in the 400, 800 and 1600 meters at Huntington Beach High School. Edison won the girls’ team title with 152 points. Fountain Valley won the boys’ title with 105 points.

Century League boys’ meet:

Foothill wins--Foothill and El Modena were tied going into the final event--the mile relay--and the Knights won in 3:29.2 to win the league title. Tad Heath won the 440 (51.3) and the 880 (1:58.5) for Foothill.

Freeway League boys’ meet:

La Habra wins title--George McDonald set a league metric record in the 100 with a title of 10.80 for La Habra, which won with 131 points, at Fullerton College. Buena Park (109) was second and Sonora (97) third.

Freeway League girls’ meet:

Sonora wins fifth consecutive title--Kathi Aagaard won the 200 in 27.18 and 400 in 1:00.51 and was on the winning 400 and 1,600 relays for Sonora at Fullerton College. Sonora finished with 144 points. Troy (103) was second and Fullerton (90) third. TraShawn Banford won the triple jump (33-0 1/4) and also ran on the two winning relay teams for Sonora.

South Coast League boys’ meet:

Capistrano Valley wins title--Although Mission Viejo won the meet with 111 points to 107 for Capistrano Valley, the Cougars won the league championship based on the combination of dual meet and league final results.

Justin Horey won the long jump in 21-3 and the triple jump in 43-2 for the Cougars.
