Top Surfers to Compete at Huntington Beach

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Several of the nation’s top surfers and bodyboarders are scheduled to compete in the Richie Collins/Byron Scott Drug Use Is Life Abuse contest, which starts today at Huntington State Beach.
Collins, one of the top surfers on the Assn. of Surfing Professionals’ tour, is scheduled to compete, along with Bud Pro tour regulars Rob Machado of Cardiff, Taylor Knox of Carlsbad and Chris Brown of Santa Barbara.
Heats start each day at 7 a.m., and the finals are tentatively scheduled for noon Sunday.
