Masters champion (10:48.13), 10th-best time ever in county. After finishing nonqualifying fifth in Division II final (11:12.59). Got second chance when some runners dropped Masters.

Newcomer to 300 hurdles. Had best of 46.12 at league final, where she was first. Fifth in Division II final (46.46). Won April 3 Cerritos Invitational. Fourth at County meet.

100, 200, 100 high hurdles

Los Alamitos, Sr.

First girl in county history to win 100, 200 and 100 hurdles at Southern Section finals. Second in State prelim hurdle heat (14.78w), tied for fifth-best overall. Legal bests of 12.11 (100), 24.52 (200), 14.78 (100HH). County champion 100 and 200. Wind-aided 24.29, county best run under any conditions.

Had a season-best 5-9 1/4 at Mt. SAC Relays, which places her 15th on the national list. Tied for Masters meet champion and was Division II champion. Qualified at 5-6 at State prelims.

Long Jump

Foothill, So.

Third at Division II championships at 17-9 1/4. Had best of 17-9 3/4 at Orange County meet, where she was champion. Century League champion. Also one of county’s leading sprinters.

*CHRISTIE ENGESSER

400, 800

Ocean View, Sr.

County-leading bests of 58.11 (400) and 2:12.05 (800). A favorite for the State title, won State prelim heat (2:14.92). County and Mt. San Antonio College Invitational champion in 800. Second at Arcadia meet. League champion 400 and 800.

Triple Jump

Esperanza, Fr.

Jumped 36-4 1/2 at Division II final, where she was third. County’s top triple jumper. League champion (35-9 1/2). A best of 36-7 in dual meet against Loara. Also one of county’s top long jumpers.

*GINA HEADS

Shot Put

Newport Harbor, Jr.

County leader at 43-2 1/2. Qualified for State final, sixth-best throw (41-10). Fifth at Masters meet (42-2 1/4). Division II champion. Also a top county and section discus thrower.

*ANDREA BILL

Discus

University, Sr.

Had a best of 142-6 this season. Has fifth-best throw entering State meet final next Saturday. She was Division II champion with a throw of 141-11 and third at the Masters meet (139-11).

Had county’s fastest time of season, placed third in Division II final (49.16), missing Masters meet by .15. Won league championship. Third at county meet (50.67).

Had county-leading best of 3:55.73 at Masters, placing fourth. At State prelims placed fourth in heat (3:58.00). Orange County champion (3:59.69).
