County Surfers Get to Third Round at Oceanside Event

Defending champion Jeff Booth of Laguna Beach and Seal Beach’s Marty Thomas advanced to the third round of the $27,000 Life’s A Beach Open surfing championships at Oceanside.

Also advancing were Newport Beach’s Richie Collins, Taylor Knox of Carlsbad and Cardiff’s Rob Machado.

Hawaii’s Sunny Garcia, San Clemente’s Mike Parsons, Australia’s Tony Ray and Hawaii’s Johnny-Boy Gomes were eliminated in the second round.
