Payne Stewart, after disclosing that he has a heart condition, shot a three-under-par 67 on Friday for the best score of the day in the Scottish Open.

It left him in second place after three rounds, at 207--but seven strokes behind Sweden’s Jesper Parnevik, who had a 70 on Friday.

Stewart, the 1991 U.S. Open champion, said he has an enlarged heart and a blockage on the left side.

“Yes, I have a heart condition but the cardiologist told me it’s not serious and that was all I wanted to hear,” Stewart said. “I want to live to be 100.”

Stewart, 36, said he feels fine and plans to play in next week’s British Open. He said the condition was discovered in a routine medical check during the Los Angeles Open in February.

Sandy Lyle, his playing partner on Friday, joked, “There can’t be much wrong with his heart judging by the pressure putts he holed out there.”
