Montreal scored a first-half goal and made it stand Sunday as the Impact beat the Salsa, 1-0, in an American Professional Soccer League contest held at Claude-Robillard Stadium before 5,611 in Montreal.

Abdel Sahrane scored for Montreal at the 20-minute mark of the first half. Nicola Zanone assisted on the play.

Four minutes later, the Salsa gained a man advantage for the rest of the way when Montreal’s Nick de Santis was ejected for holding Paulinho as he broke toward the goal. But Montreal played tough defense and was able to overcome the disadvantage.

The Salsa’s best chance for a goal came with about 25 minutes left to play when Thor Lee got an open shot from about 12 yards from the net but the Impact’s Pat Harrington made the save.

The Salsa remains in third place with 90 points. The Salsa is four points behind Colorado, which won twice over the weekend.
