Jeremie Watkins
SCHOOL: Simi Valley
SPORT: Football
YEAR: Senior
SEASON AT A GLANCE: Watkins, whom Pioneer Coach Roger McCamy calls “The Franchise,” has started quickly in his first season as the Pioneers’ quarterback. He is second among area passing leaders with 592 yards. He has completed 58.3% of his passes with six touchdowns and one interception.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Watkins completed 24 of 32 passes (75%) for 389 yards and four touchdowns (no interceptions) in a 35-0 rout of Granada Hills. He was removed with nine minutes to play in the fourth quarter. “The plan going in was to pass and run the same amount, but we changed that when (running back) Jevon (Markarian) got hurt (in the first half),” Watkins said. “The air attack was on so we decided to stay with it. I owe it all to my line and my receivers ‘cause without them, it wouldn’t all work.”
