WHITTIER — Quarterback Reggie Davis had thrown for only 90 yards in Brethren Christian’s three previous games, and Coach Ken Sharrar knew that a good performance from Davis was needed for his team to beat Whittier La Serna.
Davis answered the call, throwing for 245 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Warriors (3-1) to a 41-6 victory Friday night at California High.
Davis also ran for a touchdown and scored on an interception return.
Brethren scored first on a safety when a Lancer snap sailed through the end zone. The Warriors took advantage of the ensuing free kick with a drive capped by a 22-yard pass from Davis to Kurt Cuellar that made it 8-0.
The Warriors scored again when Davis ran in from 18 yards.
Davis then gave Brethren a 27-0 lead at halftime by going deep for touchdown passes of 40 and 82 yards to Andy Brown.
The Warriors didn’t let up in the second half as Davis hit Brown, who finished with four catches for 189 yards and three touchdowns, for 50 yards and another score.
