Buena 35, Dos Pueblos 21--George Keiaho rushed for 210 yards in 27 carries and scored four touchdowns to lead visiting Buena (3-2, 2-0). Keiaho scored three times in the third quarter as Buena took a 27-14 lead after trailing, 14-7, at halftime.

Santa Barbara 41, Hueneme 33--Tailback Khalid Hurst rushed for 220 yards in 27 carries and scored three touchdowns to lead the Dons (4-1, 2-0) over Hueneme (1-4, 0-2) at Santa Barbara High.

The game was not decided until the final play when Viking quarterback George Jones’ pass fell incomplete in the end zone as time expired.

A well-played first half ended in a 21-21 tie. Hueneme’s Ronnie Jenkins scored on runs of 80 and 49 yards in the first quarter and Artis Jackson added a 98-yard interception return for a touchdown in the second quarter.

Hurst opened the second half with a 90-yard kickoff return and his 12-yard touchdown run gave Santa Barbara a 35-21 lead early in the fourth quarter.

Hueneme mounted a spirited comeback behind Jones, who ran for two fourth-quarter touchdowns, the second bringing Hueneme to within 35-33 with 4 1/2 minutes to play. A two-point conversion run came up short.

Santa Barbara’s Kenji Saito scored on a 30-yard run with 36 seconds to play. However, the extra-point kick failed and Jones hit Jenkins with a 43-yard completion to put the ball at the Santa Barbara 37 before the final play.
