14 Homes Raided in Shooting Case

Police served search warrants at 14 homes of suspected gang members Tuesday in connection with two shootings last month, but made no arrests and found no evidence in those cases.

They did, however, arrest three men on unrelated misdemeanor charges.

The raid stemmed from the Sept. 26 wounding of two men during a fight at an apartment complex in the 7200 block of 21st Street in Westminster, Lt. Andy Hall said.

The victims, Gerardo Tellez, 18, and Salvador Morales, 17, both of Garden Grove, had gone to the Westminster apartment complex to confront gang members who had bothered one of their family members, investigators said.

About 7 a.m. Tuesday, investigators from Westminster, Huntington Beach, Santa Ana, Fullerton, Garden Grove, Buena Park and the Orange County Probation Department raided 10 homes in Westminster, two in Santa Ana, and one each in Fullerton and Buena Park.

Officers found a shotgun and a BB gun, but nothing to link the alleged gang members to the shooting, Hall said.

In the raid, police arrested a 17-year-old, whose name was not released because of his age, Jose Ramos, 24, and Pete Lopez, 26--all of Westminster--on suspicion of misdemeanor charges of failing to appear in court. The teen-ager also will face a misdemeanor charge of drug possession.
