PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : RAMS : Gilbert’s Status Still Uncertain

Share

Defensive tackle Sean Gilbert worked a little Wednesday, testing a bothersome hamstring, but said his availability for Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions remains uncertain.

“It responded positively because I can still walk,” Gilbert said. “But it’s not to the point where I can get into a game and be as effective as I should be.”

Gilbert, the team’s leading tackler with 49, is listed as probable.

The Rams released linebacker Jeff Brady and signed former Denver defensive lineman Frank Boudreaux and added him to the practice squad.

The agent for cornerback Darryl Henley said that reports that Henley might be seeking reinstatement are the result of a misunderstanding.

“Originally, when he was put on the exempt list we said, ‘Let’s look at this again after the Atlanta game,’ ” Marvin Demoff said. “Maybe that’s where the misunderstanding was. Nothing has changed to cause Darryl to ask for a change.”

Henley has been on paid leave since Oct. 5, when the Rams learned that he was under investigation for his alleged role in a cocaine trafficking network.

The Rams said they expected Henley to seek reinstatement and indicated Wednesday it was an hour-to-hour proposition.

Demoff, however, said, “(Henley’s) status now is the same as it was two weeks ago. He is not making any inquiries to be reinstated at this time.”
