Teddy Davila and Scott Schalliol scored as Cal State Northridge defeated Nevada Las Vegas, 2-1, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Pacific Division men’s soccer match at North Campus Stadium on Friday.
The victory was Coach Marwan Ass’ad’s 150th since taking over the Northridge program in 1983.
Northridge (9-7, 3-2 in division play) took a 1-0 lead 17 minutes into the first half on Davila’s head shot off a corner kick by Sarkis Banyan.
Schalliol’s goal, his first as a collegian, put the Matadors up, 2-0, at the 11-minute mark of the second half.
Nevada Las Vegas (5-9-1, 2-3-1) cut the deficit in half two minutes later on a Daniel Packer shot from 14 yards out.
