Napoleon Kaufman sprinted 58 yards up the sideline for one touchdown and also vaulted into the end zone from a yard out in the second half as No. 22 Washington defeated Oregon, 21-6, in a Pacific 10 game Saturday.

“We knew we could run on these guys,” said Kaufman, who had 142 yards in 21 carries. “And I knew we were going to rip off a couple of big ones eventually.”

The Huskies intercepted six passes by Danny O’Neil and also recovered a fumble as Washington extended its Husky Stadium winning streak to 17 games. Russell Hairston intercepted three passes and Reggie Reser had an interception and a fumble recovery.

Oregon had to settle for two field goals by Tommy Thompson.

Washington, 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the Pac-10, defeated Oregon (4-3, 1-3) for the fifth consecutive season. The Ducks haven’t won at Seattle since 1980.

O’Neill, who had six passes intercepted for the season going into the game, was 18 of 32 for 198 yards.

Kaufman, who had 30 yards in three carries in the first half, broke for the longest touchdown run of his career as Washington took a 14-6 lead with 8:37 gone in the third quarter.

Kaufman broke outside to the left sideline and ran untouched into the end zone for the second-longest run of his career. He had a 70-yard nonscoring run against Arizona State last season.

Kaufman’s second touchdown was only one yard, but it was almost as spectacular as his long run. He leaped high into the air, was hit at the goal line and landed on his back in the end zone.
