J. J. O’Laughlin, Cal State Northridge’s starting quarterback, might miss Saturday’s American West Conference game against Cal Poly San Luis Obispo because of an injured shoulder.

O’Laughlin’s right, throwing shoulder was hurt when he was hit after attempting a pass just before halftime against Chico State on Saturday.

The shoulder is “sprained and strained,” according to the Northridge training staff, a school spokesman said.

O’Laughlin, a junior, took over as quarterback in the Matadors’ third game, only two weeks after he transferred to Northridge from Illinois. He has completed 99 of 214 passes for 1,181 yards and nine touchdowns with five interceptions.

If O’Laughlin does not play, the Matadors probably will start Clayton Millis, a junior transfer from Oregon. Millis has completed 11 of 34 passes for 76 yards with three interceptions.
