SEA VIEW LEAGUE FOOTBALL : Irvine Picks Up an Easy Victory Over University

IRVINE — Sean Clark scored two touchdowns to lead Irvine to a 42-7 Sea View League victory over University Thursday night at Irvine High.
Irvine, which clinched its second consecutive Sea View title last week, finished 9-1, 7-0.
Irvine, ranked third in Orange County, went undefeated in league play for the second year in a row.
The Vaqueros also earned the Dennis Toohey Fence Post Trophy, which goes to the top football team in Irvine.
University finished 1-9, 1-6.
Irvine jumped to a 28-0 lead after one quarter and shortly after that started to substitute most of its starters, including its leading rusher, Tony Mathis, who carried the ball only four times for 16 yards in the game.
Clark’s 38-yard touchdown run with 9:30 left in the first quarter gave Irvine a 7-0 lead.
Quarterback Mike Phelps then connected with Travis Kowalewsky for a 31-yard touchdown pass with 5:40 left in the first quarter to put Irvine ahead 14-0.
Gaitor was the leading rusher for Irvine with 108 yards in 19 carries. Roberson led University in rushing with 103 yards in 16 carries.
