Rio Mesa 27, Dos Pueblos 12--Quarterback Don DiDomizio ran for two touchdowns and caught a two-point conversion pass to lead the Spartans at Rio Mesa.

DiDomizio, playing in his first game in five weeks because of a broken right hand, opened the scoring going over from five yards out to cap a 10-play, 60-yard drive on Rio Mesa’s first possession.

After a Mike Contreras interception set the Spartans up at midfield, DiDomizio (14 carries, 74 yards) scored from two yards out with 19 seconds left in the second quarter and then caught the conversion pass from John Espinoza, giving Rio Mesa a 14-0 halftime lead.

Junior Liufau (10 carries, 124 yards) scored second-half touchdowns for the Spartans on runs of 15 and 45. Espinoza carried 23 times for 115 yards as Rio Mesa rushed for 324 yards.

Rio Mesa’s Richard Arguellas had four sacks.

MARMONTE LEAGUE

Simi Valley 34, Channel Islands 21--Jevon Markarian scored three touchdowns and Jeremie Watkins passed for 215 yards and two scores as the Pioneers (5-5, 3-4) kept their playoff hopes alive at Simi Valley.

Markarian gained 72 yards in 15 carries and scored on runs of one, two and 23 yards.

The Raiders (0-10, 0-7) were led by quarterback Alex Love, who threw a nine-yard touchdown pass and added a nine-yard touchdown run. He completed 16 of 23 passes for 145 yards.

Watkins completed 18 of 27 passes for 215 yards. He threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Sergey in the first quarter and added a five-yard scoring toss to J.J. Washington with three seconds left in the first half.

In order for Simi Valley to make the playoffs, Thousand Oaks must defeat Camarillo tonight, and the Pioneers would then hope for a wild-card berth.
