El Dorado, the league’s co-champion, advanced to the third round of the Southern Section Division III-AA for the third consecutive season. The Golden Hawks beat Riverside Rubidoux and South Torrance before losing to Mission Hills Alemany, 62-55. . . . Cypress also advanced past the first round for the fourth season in a row in Division III-AA, knocking off Bellflower before falling to eventual champion Inglewood Morningside. . . . League co-champion Katella was the least fortunate in postseason play. It was upset, 57-47, by Westlake Village Westlake in the opening round of Division II-A. . . . The Knights’ Chris Carrillo and Cypress’ Carrie Eggleston shared league MVP honors. . . . El Dorado placed five girls, including seniors Angie Conley and Jody Caruso, on the all-league team. Cavetra Mitchell and Cindy Yamasaki from Los Alamitos and Bridget Marshall from Loara were also all-league selections. . . . Eggleston was the league’s leading scorer and rebounder, averaging 24.0 points and 14.4 rebounds, good for second- and third-best in the county. . . . Cypress’ Julie Adams finished with a little more than 11 rebounds a game, and Susan Flaming led the league in assists, averaging more than six.
