Loyola Finishes Regular Season on the Road

The 25th-ranked Loyola Marymount women’s volleyball team will finish the regular season with two West Coast Conference matches this weekend.
The Lions (21-7, 9-3 in WCC play) will play at Gonzaga (10-18, 5-7) tonight and Portland (3-27, 0-12) on Saturday. Loyola is tied with San Diego for second place in the WCC. Defending league champion Santa Clara (21-7, 11-1) leads the league.
Freshmen outside hitters Suzanne Radcliffe and Kim Blankinship lead the Lions with 309 and 276 kills, respectively. Radcliffe also leads in aces with 34.

The city of Carson will sponsor a volleyball clinic Nov. 28 for boys and girls 10 to 17.
The event will take place at the Veterans Sports Complex in Carson from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Two-time Olympic gold medalist Steve Timmons and other players from Team Cup volleyball are expected to participate.
The cost is $5 for Carson residents and $10 for non-residents. Participants will also receive complimentary passes to the final game of the 1993 Team Cup volleyball tournament Dec. 3 at the Forum. Information: (310) 830-9991.

Peninsula High will stage an alumni soccer day on Thursday at Palos Verdes Intermediate, formerly Palos Verdes High.
The boys’ freshman-sophomore team will play the junior varsity at 9:45 a.m. and an alumni team will meet the varsity at 10:30. Information: Peninsula Coach Alan King: (310) 377-4888.

A North Torrance girls softball league will conduct sign-ups for its 1994 season on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Columbia Park in Torrance.
Play begins in March and continues through June.
The fee for girls registering on Saturday will be $45. The fee increases to $50 during the Jan. 8-15 sign-up period, which will be conducted at Hamilton Adult School in Torrance. Information: (310) 323-9311.

Registration for a Torrance youth basketball program is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Torrance Parks and Recreation office, 3031 Torrance Blvd.
Play begins in January and continues through March. The fee is $35. Information: (310) 618-2930.
A 5K run/walk will take place Saturday at Harbor College. Check-in is at 8 a.m. and the race starts at 9. The entry fee is $20 and includes a T-shirt and ticket to Saturday night’s football game between Harbor and Ventura. Information: (310) 552-8359.

Grant Hohman, an infielder from Harbor College, said he has accepted a baseball scholarship from Cal State Northridge.
Hohman said he chose Northridge over Oklahoma and UC Santa Barbara.
Hohman was a three-time All-Mission League selection as a shortstop for St. Bernard High. He batted .360 last season for Harbor.
