BOYS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Los Alamitos Rallies to Defeat Arizona Dobson

Los Alamitos blew a 12-point halftime lead, then rallied to win in overtime, 90-87, over Arizona Dobson in the first round of the Compadre Fiesta Bowl Christmas Classic Monday in Chandler, Ariz.

Tim Lin had five three-pointers and 19 points for Los Alamitos (10-1), the second-ranked team in Orange County. Ryan Staniec led the Griffins with 22 points and Jeremy Vandervoet added 17 points and 10 rebounds.

In the first round of the Canyon Tournament:

Bolsa Grande 44, Canyon 43--Guard Quang Nguyen drove to the basket with 14 seconds left in the game and made the game-winning layup for Bolsa Grande (4-3).

Pacifica 91, Montebello 71--Jon Surface had 19 points, including three three-pointers, and 15 rebounds and Ramon Alliman added 18 points to lead Pacifica (6-1) in the first round.

In first round play of the Carl’s Jr. Holiday Classic:

Santiago 60, Trabuco Hills 59--Trailing by one point with 30 seconds left, Pablo Martinez made both free throws to give Santiago the upset. Martinez scored a game-high 19 points for Santiago (3-5).

Brethren Christian 54, Santa Ana 51--Richard Mendoza scored 14 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter for Brethren Christian (6-3).

Century 70, Sunny Hills 50--Forward Thomas Harmon had 22 points and Hector Negrete and Gabriel Aguirre each had 10 points for Century (9-2).

Cypress 52, Anaheim 43--Chad Boberg led Cypress with 16 points. Teammate Derick Mitchell had 13.

Garden Grove 60, Westminster 52--Tim Denk had 19 points and Mike Campuzano added 17 points for Garden Grove (4-4).

Los Amigos 53, Buena Park 26--Forwards Jason Weiss, with 18 points, and Chris Yu, with 17, led Los Amigos (2-6) in the first round.

In the Coast Holiday Classic:

Edison 63, Glendale Hoover 59--Darrell Adams had 15 points, including three three-pointers, and Micah Kroeger added 15 points to lead Edison (5-1) in round-robin play.

Newport Harbor 56, Dana Hills 53--Paul Tayyar scored a game-high 19 points and Juan Orellana added 14 points, including four three-pointers, to lead Newport Harbor (6-3) in round-robin play.

Donald Myers scored 13 points for Dana Hills (5-6).

Troy 60, Rancho Buena Vista 53--Greg Abbott had 28 points, including five three-pointers, and 14 rebounds for Troy (8-4), which plays Santa Ana Valley at 4:45 today in the second round.
