COLLEGE BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Cal Lutheran Rolls to 10th in Row, 131-59

The Cal Lutheran men’s basketball team rolled over California Christian, 131-59, on Tuesday night in Fresno, extending the team’s school-record start to 10-0.

Damon Ridley led the Kingsmen with 21 points and seven assists.

Paul Tapp came off the bench to score 20 points for Cal Lutheran. Derrick Clark (19 points), Rob Beckerly (16), Paul LaMott (14) and Kenny Caesar (11) also scored in double figures for the Kingsmen.

Joey Salazar led the Contenders (2-7) with 12 points.

Cal Lutheran shot 59% from the field, compared with California Christian’s 30%.

WOMEN

Glendale 56, Cuesta 53--Susie Woo made three three-pointers and scored 13 points to lead the Vaqueros (5-6) in a Western State Conference opener at Glendale.

Makela Theriault (12 points) and Keri Peterson (11) also scored in double figures for Glendale. The Vaqueros won despite making only one of 15 free throws in the second half.

Michelle Cornell led Cuesta (5-6) with 22 points.

Ventura 73, Pierce 30--Camisca Hawkins scored 17 points and Amy Blackburn added 16 points and 13 rebounds for Ventura (11-4) in a Western State Conference inter-division opener at Pierce.

Moorpark 57, Bakersfield 44--Janette Oriza had 13 points and 13 rebounds for the Raiders (4-10) in a Western State Conference opener at Bakersfield.

Lisa Church also had 13 points for Moorpark.

Southern California College 65, The Master’s College 33--Tina Demarsh scored 18 points and Southern California College held The Master’s to 12 first-half points in a nonconference game at Newhall.

Sharlene TeVelde led The Master’s (2-6) with 11 points and six rebounds.
