Man Killed Crossing San Diego Freeway
A 72-year-old man from Los Angeles was struck and killed by a car Sunday night as he was crossing the San Diego Freeway, the California Highway Patrol reported Monday.
Officers did not know why Dolger Stewart was crossing the southbound lanes about 8:50 p.m. near the Camino de Estrella exit, Officer Jay Rice said.
The driver of a southbound car saw Stewart, tried to brake and veered left but could not stop in time, officers said. The victim died at the scene.
There was no indication that alcohol was involved in the accident, Rice said.
