Australia’s Brett Ogle overtook a faltering Davis Love III and shot a four-under-par 68 Sunday to win the Hawaiian Open, his second victory in the United States.

Ogle took the lead to stay with a two-stroke swing, his birdie against Love’s bogey, on the 17th hole at the Waialae Country Club and went on to a one-shot triumph.

Ogle, who won the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am almost a year ago, scored his fourth worldwide triumph with a 19-under 269 total. It was worth $216,000 from the $1.2-million purse.

Love, who assumed the lead with a 60 in Friday’s second round, could do no better than a 71 on each of his last two trips over the windblown course and finished at 270.

“This is about like all the others I’ve thrown away--not a lot of fun,” Love said.

But the man who tied for fourth last week in the Mercedes Championship noted “only four guys have beat me in two weeks and I haven’t played my best yet.”

John Huston was third at 272, three back but never really in contention. He had a closing 67 and was followed by Corey Pavin, a two-time winner of this title, at 65-273.

Love and Ogle were paired in the final group and battled all the way. Love led outright on two occasions, Ogle led twice and they were tied three times. Love held a two-shot advantage when they started and once was three ahead before Ogle started back.
