PREP ROUNDUP : Brea-Olinda Wins Without Injured Erickson

Top-ranked Brea-Olinda (23-0) got a season-high 26 points from Sarah Beckley and defeated Ontario, 75-43, in nonleague girls’ basketball Saturday night at Brea-Olinda.

Brea-Olinda (23-0) played without guard Nicole Erickson, the 1993 Times player of the year who suffered a toe injury after Thursday night’s victory over Western. Coach John Hattrup said the injury was not a break, but Erickson would miss at least Tuesday’s game at Valencia.

In other nonleague girls’ basketball:

Palos Verdes Peninsula 65, Capistrano Valley 58--Mimi McKinney scored 35 points for Peninsula (18-3). Susan Scott scored 26 points for Capistrano Valley (12-11).

In Olympic League girls’ basketball:

Cerritos Valley Christian 60, Capistrano Valley Christian 26--Lina Schaefer scored 13 for Capistrano Valley Christian (9-11, 3-7), which trailed, 33-6, at halftime.

In Pacific Coast League girls’ basketball:

Estancia 60, Laguna Beach 27--Laura Czingula had 19 points and 11 rebounds for Estancia (18-4, 6-3).

In Olympic League boys’ basketball:

Whittier Christian 62, Ontario Christian 42--Kwadwo Boachie scored 15 points for visiting Whittier Christian (19-3, 10-1), which clinched the league title.

Brethren Christian 59, Cerritos Valley Christian 46--Brethren Christian scored the first 11 points of the third quarter en route to the victory, which gave the Warriors sole possession of second place.

Andy Brown led Brethren Christian (15-8, 7-3) with 17 points. The Warriors had 18 steals.

In Olympic League boys’ basketball:

Calvary Chapel 72, Orange Lutheran 56--Isaac Leasau scored 18 points to lead Calvary Chapel (11-12, 5-5) at home.

In Sunset League boys’ soccer:

Servite 2, Westminster 0--Servite (9-9, 7-5) moved within one game of third-place Edison.

In Pacific Coast League girls’ soccer:

Laguna Beach 1, Costa Mesa 0--April Shirley scored, and goalkeeper Hilary Kyle had 11 saves for Laguna Beach (9-7-2, 4-5-1).

Sophomore fullback Jennifer Dolloff of Costa Mesa, who was carried off the field on a stretcher and taken to Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, was later released with a sprained neck and back.

Ontario Christian 3, Whittier Christian 0--Tiffany Tatum had 12 saves for Whittier Christian (4-12-2, 1-9-2).

In Olympic League girls’ soccer:

Cerritos Valley Christian 4, Brethren Christian 1--Brethren Christian fell to 6-4-2 in league.
