1994 Prep Golf: Six Teams to Watch : Corona del Mar

1992-93: 15-3, 11-3 in the Sea View League; finished in a three-way tie for fifth in the Southern Regional.

Key returners: Scott Bemis, Sr.; Jenny Glasgow, Jr.; Jimmy Keane, So.; Billy Sarracino, So., averaged 39; Kevin Walden, Sr., averaged 40.5.

Key newcomers: Craig Welker, Sr.

Outlook: Donnellan, an assistant professional at Newport Beach Country Club, said the Sea Kings should be strong because of their even temperaments. “They really don’t let things bother them,” Donnellan said. “Every one of these kids is a quiet, quiet, quiet reserved individual and I think that’s what you need for good golf. You need introspective deep thinkers and every varsity player is a thinker.” Four players return from the team last year, and Welker played for the varsity the year before. Sarracino was the No. 2 player last year as a freshman, and Walden is being recruited by California. “We’re going to be very competitive,” Donnellan said. “I would assume so because they have all been there before.”
