OUTLOOK

With eight starters returning, White feels this will be the year the Vikings become a competitive team in the league. White calls Fehrle “the best all-around player ever” at Campbell Hall. Fehrle, a strong defensive player, also had 18 stolen bases last year and will bat leadoff. The pitching is uncertain with the exception of Strick. Strick has been slowed by a shoulder injury but should be available in time for league play.

OUTLOOK

The Contenders will be young, but have experience in the Carpenter brothers and Granzow to build around. Granzow (.460), Faith Baptist’s leading returning hitter, will bat third followed by Colby Carpenter. Among the newcomers, Rodgers and Bailey bring speed to the top of the lineup. Weiss doesn’t expect to unseat Crossroads as the league champion, but third place is a realistic possibility. Five players transferred over the past school year, but Weiss expects minimal impact from the losses.
