The Burbank Burroughs boys’ soccer team saw its 12-game winning streak end in a 3-1 loss to Bell Gardens for the Southern Section Division III championship Saturday.

The game was very physical and included four yellow cards.

Burrough’s top threat, senior midfielder Roberto Perez, was held scoreless and limited to one shot. Perez had seven goals in four playoff games and a total of 17 for the season.

“Our game plan was to keep No. 13 (Perez) off the ball as much as possible,” said Orlando Brenes, Bell Gardens coach. “We did it, and it worked.”
