OUTLOOK

Hays has high expectations for this season’s team--and with good reason. “I think this could be the best team I’ve had in my four years here,” Hays said. “We have an experienced pitching staff and good bats.” Powell and Rodriguez are St. Margaret’s leaders. Powell, a four-year starter who plays every outfield position, batted .340 with 14 runs batted in and was a first-team all-league selection. Rodriguez, another first-team all-league pick, batted .450 and threw out 77% of baserunners in league play, Hays said. Rodriguez also had 16 stolen bases. “Those two guys have been great for us,” Hays said. “They really make things happen.” Miller is St. Margaret’s top pitcher. He was 5-1 and 3-0 in league play last season. Kelley and Masters also are expected to battle for jobs in the rotation.
