THOUSAND OAKS : Sponsors Sought for Arts Plaza Banners

Share

As publicity chairwoman for the Civic Arts Plaza, Helene Ross dreams of hanging purple-and-teal advertising banners from every lamppost in Thousand Oaks.

She has the design--a joyous dancer poised mid-flight, surrounded by panels advertising the city’s 30th anniversary and the performing arts center’s black-tie grand opening. She also has city approval for the nonprofit project.

Now, Ross just needs to find residents or business owners willing to pay $150 each to get their name emblazoned on the bottom of a banner. Because city staff members hope to maintain some uniformity, company logos will not be printed.

“We’re hoping to sell more than 200 banners and blanket the city with them,” Ross said. “It’s a celebration and we want everyone to participate.”

The banners will be installed in early July, about the same time the Civic Arts Plaza’s box office opens. They will continue to fly from lampposts until the inaugural performances in late October. After the grand opening, sponsors will be able to keep the banners bearing their names.

For more information about the banners--which will measure 2 1/2 by 7 feet and be printed on both sides--call Ross at 496-3787.
