COLLEGE SIGNINGS : Dana Hills’ Hefty Will Attend UCSB
Bob Hefty, 6-foot-8 middle blocker at Dana Hills, has signed a letter of intent to play volleyball at UC Santa Barbara, he announced Friday.
Hefty, who has a 4.6 grade-point average, was a member of the 1993 Junior National team.
He was recruited by USC, UCLA, Stanford, Long Beach State, Penn State, Pepperdine, Brigham Young and University of the Pacific before choosing UCSB, where he will join Balboa Bay Club teammate Mitch McCoy, a Newport Harbor senior who has also signed with the Gauchos.

Heather Hamer of El Dorado has signed to play softball at Kansas next year, El Dorado Coach Kalum Haack said. Hamer has a career earned-run average of 0.64 and is 6-1 this season with a 0.30 ERA. She was recruited by Akron, St. Peters (N.J.), Boston College and Georgia State.
