Yoshina, in her first season of softball, played two seasons as a guard for the Cypress basketball team. She was six for 15 as Cypress won four games last week, including three in Orange Empire Conference play. She also made a diving catch on a line drive to save a run in a 2-1 victory over Fullerton. Her biggest hit of the week came in the seventh inning against Palomar with the Chargers trailing, 2-0. Kerry Moloney was walked intentionally to load the bases and Yoshina singled down the left-field line to drive in two runs. Cypress won, 3-2, in 11 innings.

* Teresa Pinkerton, Golden West, pitched a no-hitter with eight strikeouts as the Rustlers beat Saddleback, 2-1, Monday.
