Agoura Hills Girl, 8, Finds Mother Slain

A 36-year-old woman who had been stabbed several times was discovered dead inside her condominium Wednesday morning by her young daughter.

Robin McLean, who lived in the Steeplechase Condominiums on North Lost Hills Road, was stabbed several times in the chest, according to Los Angeles County sheriff’s investigators. The 8-year-old girl, whose name is being withheld by police, discovered her mother’s body about 7:30 a.m. when she woke up.

The girl did not hear her mother being attacked, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Joe Brown said, and there were no signs of a forced entry into the two-bedroom unit.

“It’s unusual (that) it happened rather quietly,” Brown said.

Investigators believe that someone stabbed McLean several times in the chest with a knife during the night late Tuesday or early Wednesday, Brown said. But detectives have not located the murder weapon and know no motive for the attack.

They declined to say in which room the body was found.

On Wednesday, neighbors in the large, gated complex described McLean as committed to her daughter, but said they did not know much about her.

“She was very involved with her child,” said Jeff Ames, the president of the homeowners association. “She was very nice and sociable.”
