In Division III Southern Section diving finals:

Nichols wins--Jeff Nichols of Laguna Hills finished first with 547.90 points, almost 100 points ahead of second-place Grant Currie of Redondo Beach Redondo Union. Calvary Chapel’s Barrett Johnson was third with 419.75 points at Heritage Park in Irvine.

In the Division I boys’ volleyball playoffs:

Dana Hills 3, Edison 2--Jeremy Darner had 22 kills and Bob Hefty had 12 kills and four blocks for visiting Dana Hills (12-4), which won the first-round match, 15-9, 15-12, 7-15, 13-15, 15-5. Ryan Allen had 18 kills and Brad Webre had nine kills and six blocks for Edison (11-6). Dana Hills advances to Tuesday’s second round and will play the Laguna Beach-Tustin winner.
