DIVISIONS V, VI BASEBALL PLAYOFFS : Southern California Christian Gets Big Surprise, Victory

Southern California Christian, which found out Thursday night it would be playing a Southern Section playoff game, defeated Wildomar Cal Lutheran, 8-0, in the first round of the Division VI playoffs Friday at Lake Elsinore.

SCC (9-12), which tied for third in the Arrowhead League, entered the playoffs after Downey Life Christian withdrew because of lack of players. The Flames, playing their first game in nine days, were led by Tim St. Clair, who had two hits, three runs scored, three runs batted in and three stolen bases.

In other Division VI baseball:

Heritage Christian 7, Coutin 3--Steve Acheson was two for three with three RBIs to lead Heritage Christian (12-8). Eric Carreon struck out seven batters, walked none and gave up one earned run.

St. Margaret’s 18, Sylmar First Lutheran 1-- Mitch Kelley had three hits, three runs, two RBIs and two stolen bases to lead St. Margaret’s (18-1). Kelley (4-0) also pitched five innings, giving up one hit and striking out five. Lupe Rodriguez went three for four with three RBIs. St. Margaret’s plays Carpenteria Cate on Tuesday.

In Division V baseball:

Calvary Chapel 6, Brentwood 1--J.J. Vandkamp pitched a four-hitter and struck out nine for Calvary Chapel (17-8). Vandkamp also had two hits.
