Mascarenas, who has helped her traveling team reach three national age group championship tournaments, winning two titles, is showing her mettle in the Southern Section Division I playoffs. Tuesday, she beat Cypress, 9-0, with a one-hitter, giving up the only hit with two outs in the seventh. At the plate, she was two for two, scored two runs and drove in one. Thursday, she pitched a three-hitter in a 2-0 victory over Newbury Park, her ninth shutout of the season. “When she’s focused in, she’s tough to beat,” Pacifica Coach Rob Weil said.

Other notables:

* Angie Fancuberta, Fullerton, earned two Division II victories, 2-0 over Lakewood in 12 innings and 4-1 in a two-hitter over Covina Charter Oak.

* Carrie Garritson, Buena Park, won the 3,200 in 10:45.52 and finished second in the 1,600 (county-best 5:01.90) at the Masters track meet.

* Julie Koudelka, Edison, won the 800 meters in 2:12.99 in the Masters meet, the best time in the county this season.

* Tara Lawrence, Foothill, hit two two-run triples in a 7-4 victory over second-seeded Los Alamitos in the Division I softball playoffs.
