Lindenberg Leads North to Softball Victory

Share

Canyon’s Nina Lindenberg scored two runs and drove in two more to lead the North a 7-0 victory over the South in the third Orange County North-South all-star softball game Wednesday at Brea-Olinda High.

Lindenberg scored the only run the North needed in the first inning against El Toro’s Misty Lauby.

After a two-out walk, Lindenberg stole second and scored on a single by Cypress’ Christa Saindon. Lindenberg also keyed the North’s five-run third inning. Lauby surrendered six runs despite giving up only two hits in three innings.

The South committed three errors in the third and three times allowed runners to reach base by failing to throw out the lead runner.

An error and two fielder’s choices loaded the bases, and Lindenberg singled up the middle, scoring Los Alamitos’ Debbie Wilson (two runs batted in) and Rosary’s Nicola Walsh, whose slide allowed her to elude the catcher’s tag.

Woodbridge’s Alison Johnsen had three of the South’s four hits.

Wilson, Rancho Alamitos’ Jill Otto and El Dorado’s Heather Hamer combined for the shutout.
