Deploring Racism
The recent fire at the Stanford home in Oak View reminds residents that there is a strong perception of racism in the Ojai Valley. Although officials now say it was not arson, this incident brought the issue to the fore once again.
The League of Women Voters of Ventura County deplores hate in all forms. We have extended our condolences to the Stanfords, and herein express our concern to any person who has experienced racially motivated harassment. We call upon all public, civic, professional, service and church organizations and officials to make it clear that the Ojai Valley will not allow any violation of personal or civil rights.
