The Shrine North-South all-star high school football game is on the move once again, having switched sites for the third time in the last four years.

The 43rd Shrine game will be played tonight at 7 at Citrus College in Glendora. It was played at Long Beach Veterans Stadium the last two years and at the Rose Bowl before that.

The game, a benefit for the Shriners’ Hospital for crippled children, matches 32 graduated seniors from Northern California and 32 from Southern California.

“Basically, it has come down to money, and we’ve tried to find the most economic place possible,” Dan Smith, the game’s director, said of the move. “We’re saving almost $10,000 by moving to Citrus College.”

Of the 64 players in tonight’s game, 47 have received scholarships to Division I colleges. Eight players are headed to USC, six to Arizona State and four each to California and UCLA.

The South is coached by Tom Hoak of Rialto Eisenhower, whose team won the Southern Section Division I championship last season. Jim Erickson of Pinole Valley is the North coach.

The South roster includes such standouts as kicker Adam Abrams of La Jolla Bishop’s, running backs Rodney Sermons of La Puente Bishop Amat and George Keiaho of Ventura Buena, quarterback Steve Campbell of Norco and defensive lineman Brandon Whiting of Long Beach Poly.
