NFL EXHIBITIONS : Switzer Wins Cowboy Debut
Barry Switzer’s NFL exhibition debut was successful Sunday night, thanks to a player he recruited out of Henryetta (Okla.) High School.
Troy Aikman threw a touchdown pass and the defending Super Bowl champion Dallas Cowboys defeated the Minnesota Vikings, 17-9, at Irving, Tex.
Aikman who played for Switzer at Oklahoma in 1985 before transferring to UCLA one year later.
Switzer was hired by owner Jerry Jones on March 30 to replace Jimmy Johnson.
Kansas City 24, Houston 17--Alex Van Pelt hit Lee Harris with a 25-yard touchdown pass with 18 seconds left, giving the Chiefs a victory in the first game on the new grass field at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.
