Southern California Wins in Junior Golf

The Southern California team, paced by Fullerton’s Jenny Lee, held back a strong final-round challenge from Hawaii and won the Girls’ Junior Americas Cup golf tournament by one stroke Thursday in Waikoloa, Hawaii.
Southern California had problems with the wind during the final round and finished with a 22-over-par 232, for a 54-hole total of 675. Hawaii, which had a final round of 226, finished at 676. The winners had a 10-stroke lead over Hawaii after the first round.
Natalie Nakamura of Hawaii shot a final-round 74 for total of 217, and was the individual leader. Lee, who led after two rounds, had a 77 Thursday, for a 219 total.
