ROLLER HOCKEY : Blades and Bullfrogs Advance
The Blades beat the San Diego Barracudas, 9-8, after an overtime shootout to advance to the Pacific Division finals in a Roller Hockey International playoff game at the Forum on Friday night.
The Barracudas tied the score, 8-8, with 39 seconds remaining to force a five-on-five shootout, which the Blades won, 2-1, on goals by Nick Vachon and Mike Callahan. Blade goaltender Max Mikhailovsky stopped four shots in the shootout.
The Blades, who swept the two games from San Diego, will play the Bullfrogs Tuesday in Anaheim. The two teams will play again on Wednesday in the Forum.
Bullfrogs 7, San Jose 6--Victor Gervais had two goals and two assists for the Bullfrogs in front of 8,130 at The Pond of Anaheim as the Bullfrogs won the series, two games to none.
Goalie Rob Laurie had 41 saves, Kevin Kerr had a goal and two assists and Steve Beadle had three assists for Anaheim.
